Organising your life for success

Life can get chaotic, and finding ways to manage a busy schedule while still chasing your goals is no small task. That’s why today’s blog is all about organising your life for success.

You might be thinking, didn’t I already cover this in my yearly planning and goal-setting blog? While that post focused on how to clarify your objectives and create a solid plan, the next step is all about showing up and taking action.

I’m sharing practical systems and hacks to help you stay on top of your to-do list, set boundaries and create more time for what really matters.

(Quick tip: Haven’t read my yearly planning & goal-setting blog yet? Start there for the best results!)

You’ve clarified your goals, created a vision board and outlined your top priorities for the first quarter of the year. Now it’s time to break those big dreams into daily, actionable steps.

Here’s how to show up and organise your life for success:

Step 1: Build Daily and Weekly Habits

Start by reviewing your top priorities for the quarter. Then, outline 5 daily habits and 5 weekly habits to stay focused and productive. Each habit should contribute roughly 20% to your goals.

Daily habit examples:

  • Move your body

  • Hit your water intake goal

  • Read for personal growth

  • Enjoy a home-cooked meal

  • Journal your thoughts or wins

Weekly habit examples:

  • Schedule daily movement sessions

  • Spend quality time with family

  • Write and publish a blog post

  • Clean and reset your home

  • Spend less on takeaway

These habits should be realistic, bring you joy, and remain consistent throughout the quarter. Adjust them only during your quarterly review.

Step 2: Plan Your Week

With your habits established, it’s time to map out your daily to-do list for the week ahead. I like to review and plan my week on Sunday, it sets a foundation for a successful week. Your daily to-do list should cover everything you need to accomplish, from work and home tasks to personal goals and appointments.

Step 3: Reflect and Adjust

Once you’ve outlined your daily to-do list for the week, ask yourself these key questions:

  • Is my plan realistic and achievable?

  • Does it align with my top priorities?

  • Will it move me closer to my goals?

  • Can I adjust anything to improve my week?

  • Is there enough time for self-care?

Based on your answers, give yourself permission to adjust. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to overcommit and say “yes” too quickly. If something no longer aligns with your values or goals, don’t hesitate to cancel, reschedule, or make changes that better serve you.

Step 4: Set Boundaries

Creating time for what matters starts with setting boundaries. This might mean:

  • Saying no to activities that don’t bring you joy

  • Limiting screen time

  • Watching less TV

  • Tackling that one task you’ve been avoiding

  • Waking up earlier to prioritise your morning routine

Breaking old habits can feel uncomfortable, but growth happens outside your comfort zone. The key is to identify what’s holding you back and make intentional changes.

Success isn’t just about having a plan, it’s about following through. By creating habits, reflecting on your progress, and setting boundaries, you’ll create space for what truly matters and stay on track toward achieving your goals.
